The Ministers for Health, Gander and Family planning have urged Rwandans that reside in Rubavu district to resort to family planning and improve their children’s diets than to believe in adages that promote the contrary.
The Minister for Heath Dr.Diane Diane Gashumba said that while Rwanda enjoys a reputations of being among the countries that reduced mortality among children and women, today it is rather ashaming to be recokned for poor nutrition.
It is a message that asserts the stance of the Rwandan government to improve family planning as much as promoting good diets on the mother’s and child food chart during the week observed for them. The week commemorates the annual International Mother and Child Day that happens every May 15.
Minister Dr.Gashumba and her counterpart Minister for genda and family planning Dr. Esperance Nyirasafari were observing the first day of the week long ceremony at the Nyamyumba Health Center in Nyamyumba sector in Rubavu district, the western province.
The ministers promoted the home garden commonly called Akarima k’igikoni and the newly constructed latrines for the elderly in Rugerero sector, the same sector.
Minister Nyirasafari noted the need for improved nutrition, fight to end stunted growth among the children, hygiene, spacing child births. She said that stunting is now at the 46% rate.
“The good things I see in you is that you now understand the problems and the strategies that are in place to solve them,”she said.
On the other side, Minister for Health Dr. Gashumba said that the week will be defined by immunization of all children that are in need and all mother needing family planning services be helped.
“You know that giving birth to many mothers could cause them sudden death. You that the when a woman produces many children she reaches an extent to fail helping the home and becomes a cripple,” she said.
Additionally noted that family planning is not one of the reasons that suddenly force men to abandon their wives and urged women lied to continue producing without good planning to stop believing in such delusion.
During the same week children will be administered with deworming medicine and homes be visited to see if the women and their siblings sleep in clean, hygienic places.
She urge the resides of the district to concert on hygiene to end the delusion that Rubavu is a dirty district.
Rwanda, she noted, is a country that has reputably reduced child and woman mortality, 91% of the expectant mothers produce by antenatal care, 93% child are immunized but the stunted child are increasing.
“It ashaming to hear that Rwanda is among countries with malnutrition problems when we can all stand up actively to complement residential advisory committees and the national women’s council, the youth, security council and solve the nutrition problem.”
She added that to feed eight children for examples is problematic which is reason people need to compliantly use family planning.
“It is impossible to feed eight children. It is impossible. And when the children must go to school, be insured by Mutuelle, and plan for their tomorrow,” she noted.
The minister for health urged the residents to have a place to discuss on such matters and where to leave their children and when they have time converse with their youth on reproductive health and others faced by different families.
