The Ministry of Trade and Industry launched the National Trade Facilitation Committee to regulate import and export business at the international level.
The NTFC will promote regimes that promote trade.
The committee is expected to also be central in the promotion and implementation of trade facilitating national agreements.
NTFC is as a result or the stipulation under article 23 of the World Trade Organization that requires each every country to establish and maintain a National Committee of Trade Facilitation.
The same committees in the East Africa Community will make certain that all government authorities are in full control of the procedures that consummate importation, exportation, transit of goods and ascertain they are working together.
Minicom Permanent Secretary Emmanuel Hategeka, the NTFC is comprising different representatives from institutions like the Private Sector Federation, Rwanda Revenue Authority, Rwanda Standards Board, Ministry of Agriculture, Rwanda Development Board and the trade ministry.
Minister Francois Kanimba, added that the ministry of Trade and Industry if committed to meeting demands made by the World Trade Organization like the committee to facilitate trade.
“I would like to say that the government is committed to facilitating the new committee,”Kanimba said.
NTFC engagements include the electronic single window, one stop border posts and the cargo trafficking system across different borders.
