The Gashora Bailey bridge was constructed for the first time in 1982 and then collapsed on September 14 2014 when heavy trucks carrying fertilizers across used the it consistently.
Four years later after such travels could be made over the bridge, the same linkage has been reconstructed with tarmac and modern road accessories.
People from around the country now use the 60Km bridge conveniently to carry on their social-economic activities especially between the districts, Ngoma and Bugesera. The same bridge is a link to Nyanza in the Southern Province from the two districts.
The road was constructed under funding by Japan International Cooperation Agency, JICA, loan of $68m of March, that will also see the upgrading of Ngoma-Ramiro road.
