The new hospital is expected to be constructed in Muhima, Nyarugenge district for a cost of Rwf6 billion for 16 months.
The medical facility will be opened in June 2019.
Funding for the construction of the medical complex came from the Belgian Kingdom.
Muhima hospital was turned into a center for excellence for maternal and child health which enticed the construction of the new complex that will have 420 beds.
The hospital will provide outpatient medical services, dental and minor surgery care, emergency, inpatient services, surgical, pediatrics, obstetrics, neonatal and intensive care services 24 hours.
“ We receive those who approach us with good care to the patients who come to the hospital,” she said.
The Belgian ambassador to Rwanda, Benoit Ryelandt, said the hospital is a “high-tech” facility and a model for healthcare provision that will improve healthcare in Kigali city.
“We are happy to be part of this project. It is important to the socio-economic primary health development of the district,” he said.
