Even when the incumbent President had to abruptly withdraw his candidature during today’s awaited election of the new or continuous leader, the voting results culminated to nothing viable.
Rwanda Association Football Federation (FERWAFA) i ncumbent Vincent de Gaulle Nzamwita was very expected for a re-election but in a tricky move decided to embarrass his supporters on the last minutes to voting.
That move couldn’t either help the only contesting female candidate Félicité Rwemalika to win the 51 votes she needed on her own to lead the federation for the very first time as a woman in the country’s history.
Rwemalika got 13 of the 52 votes thus failing to accrue 27 votes need to be accepted the next president of the football federation, Rwanda’s mass sport.
Election results revealed that she got 39 invalid votes.
Electoral Committee’s president Adolphe Kalisa, said that despite today’s failure to get another president in office, the voting plans will continue until the next General Assembly whose dates are not yet known.
But under Article 28 of Electoral Code, the Executive Committee will continue to work even when there is no president in its executive office.
It also not yet know whether the president will be appointed by the country’s Presidential decree or even an interim one keep business running in the federation.
