RCSF General Manager, Eric Dusingizimana then promised that the stadium of its own kind would be opened in this year exactly on October 28.
The Cricket Stadium will host inaugural Cricket Builds Hope tournament, with an official opening ceremony on October.
Dusingizimana added that the cricket stadium would help develop the sport in Rwanda to attain regional and continental standards.
The stadium has changing rooms, a luxurious bar, and offices and many other cricket facilities.
In August 2014, Dusingizimana participated in the UK Lords Dinner, to fundraise for the construction of the stadium where he managed to earn Rwf140 million or £120,000 addition to other supplementing funds.
Rwanda Cricket Stadium Foundation, an NGO registered in Rwanda and the UK, oversaw the implementation of th construction. And the foundation’s patrons including former UK Prime Minister David Cameron and West Indies cricket icon, Brian Lara were engaged in fundraising work.
Rwanda Cricket Stadium Trust also on the other side signed for partnership with England and Wales Surrey-one of the eighteen first-class clubs as their overseas charity partner and fundraiser.
Cricket has been picking in numbers for the last 15 years, and more than 10,000 Rwandans different ages groups are involved in the game.
