The 12th Agricultural show has opened door in Kigali where it will, for six days, lay before different partners and business people the countries agro-products and technologies.
In another supportive gesture that will improve services rendered agro-investments, the Ministry of Agriculture has approved Rwf200million, to subsidize all insurance policies, to ensure sustainability of the initiative during 2017/18 fiscal year.
Insurance policies that are undertaking agro-businesses, are expected to approve subsidies, to help farmers access agro-protection.
Research institutions are also exhibiting their products meant to implement irrigation schemes.Such research will help to enhance climate change resilience, through the application of such technologies, thus improving farmers’ livelihoods.
“The ministry will also now engage in supporting insurance policies, that are meant to insure agro-based investments, which is a new initiative,” The Minister of Agriculture Dr. Géraldine Mukeshimana emphasized ahead of the show, which will attract more than 150 exhibitors tomorrow, Thursday June 22 at Mulindi agri-show grounds.
The ministry has the mandate to attract the private sector in the field of agri-business and the insurance companies, banks, agro-technology companies, because of the concern’s gravity.
“Agricultural research needs to be complemented by the private sector on a variety of agro-inputs, including seeds, pesticides.”
Every province sends a visiting delegation to the show which helps them improve their skills in regard to agro-practices in their provinces.
Every stand is rented at Rwf5000, and the cooperatives which work with the national agricultural institutions, including Minagri, Rwanda Agriculture Board, National Agriculture Export Board, played an important role by helping in terms of paying for the stands, and transport to the show grounds, to ensure a variety of products are exhibited.
This show will showcase agro-equipment, agro-based products, including those of NAEB, insurance companies that have agro-protection policies, banks that render agriculture loans, demonstration farms, agro-products including raw and processed.
Aiming to prosper and flourish business and technology transfer in agriculture, while focusing on participation exchange forums, lest, making trade negotiations , scientific and agricultural commercial exchange activities.
